Sculpture
Through the years, the sculpture collection of the Tartu Art Museum has been mainly built up with works by Estonian artists. Starting from the piece called "Infelice" (marble), which was created by August Weizenberg in 1874, it continued with work by Amandus Adamson, Jaan Koort, Voldemar Mellik, Anton Starkopf, Ferdi Sannamees and contemporary authors. The collection of sculptures holds both reliefs and free-standing sculptures in all possible materials. The most popular genre is portrait.

Best represented is the work by sculptors from Tartu such as Anton Starkopf, Aulin Rimm, Endel Taniloo, Juhan Paberit, Elmar Rebane, Roman Timotheus, Aleksander Eller, Ahti Seppet and Jaan Luik.

A separate collection is made up of the legacy of Anton Starkopf providing a good overview of his entire output from 1919 to 1966. This includes plaster casts, reliefs and free-standing sculptures.
